These symptoms may occur if the electrical outlet is improperly wired or doesn't produce the proper voltage.Plug the power cord into a different electrical outlet or surge protector.Connect another device to your TV using the same input terminal to check whether the connected device causes the issue. On the TV's supplied remote control, press the Input button to switch to the input that corresponds to the connected device and check if the situation improves.Connect your device to another input terminal of your TV.Use a spare cable to replace the currently used one and see if the situation will improve.Check if the cable is firmly connected to the TV and the connected device and make sure it is not loose.Check the following to resolve the issue: If the issue continues, an external source (such as a cable or satellite box, internet video device, or other devices like a DVD player) or cable connections could be the cause of the issue. If the lines are not visible on the menu screen, check if the issue is resolved while watching TV.

If the menu screen still displays the lines, a repair is required.Press the HOME button again to display the menu screen.Run the Self Diagnostics option on the TV (not available on all models). They are just trying it on and don't want to admit to what I believe will become a common problem with large LCD sets.Note: If your TV was previously plugged into a power strip or surge protector, plug it directly into the wall outlet instead in case the power strip or surge protector was causing a problem. there's a long thread on here about this fault on Sony Bravia sets about 2 years old.Īs to samsung saying "never heard of such a thing" is total bull. Don't assume it's only cheap sets that do this. It won't and it's likely over time that more and more lines will appear. Don't hang onto the set in the hope it will clear. If you have an offer of a replacement or refund, take it and buy another (different) set. I think that sort of fault is virtually unrepairable and stems from poor design or manufacure (hence the SOGA and "not for for purpose" seems to get many a replacement even out of guarantee. The reason the fault goes after a while is that as things warm up, the faulty connection re makes. On my set, there was a high density microchip on this flexible PCB, rather poorly sited right on the bend, and it was connections to that failing. You could only get to this by dismantling part of the panel itself, something not normally considered servicable. The problem was one of the high density flat flexible PCB interconnections from the glass panel itself to a long thin PCB along the top of the panel. I had a set with this fault (that I bought cheap with the fault) and I investigated. I doubt any of these LCD sets will still work in 30 years time.
SAMSUNG LCD TV VERTICAL COLOR LINES PORTABLE
I've still got a 30 year old Sony portable in use in the kitchen. In time I think this will become known as the "LCD Cancer" and is one of the reasons I don't believe LCD sets will last anything like as long as CRT sets have. This is something that can affect any make of LCD at any time. This is definitely a panel fault, and the only permanent solution is replace the panel. These lines appear on every input available. When I went to sit down I noticed the lines on the left, and after about 2 minutes of examining my TV in horror I saw the green ones further in.Īfter about 45 minutes the lines slowly disappear, one by one, and completely disappear in about an hour. I turned the TV on, and before really looking at the screen I lightly dusted the surface of the LCD with a soft microfiber cloth in horizontal movements with zero pressure. We think it may have happened after dusting. Samsung said they've NEVER heard of such a thing, which I told to the lady that's total bull. Another 6-7 inches from that is one or two vertical lines of solid blue (these ones are hard to make out, see them in first pic).Įven from a distance these lines are very noticeable. These lines are all different colours and are grouped together, except for a 2 line gap in between one part. The left, about 4 inches in, there is an array of thin colored lines grouped together, probably about 6 or so vertical lines.
